Lunar Client Alternatives

Lunar, despite having the option to add Fabric mods, is not very compatible due to the nature of Lunar Client being closed sourced and heavily obfuscated, making it impossible for mod authors to properly add support. It's better to use the Fabric alternatives and cut Lunar out altogether.

Additionally, Lunar is not better for performance than Fabric & mods. Lunar recommends using Sodium and other performance mods, which is where most of Lunar's performance benefits come from over vanilla, however, Lunar is also incompatible with some important performance mods like ImmediatelyFast. It is better to use all the Fabric performance mods rather than the few that Lunar supports.

Please note that this page may be outdated due to Minecraft update cycles.

It is recommended that you read the Migrating to Latest list first, as it includes all recommended mods that are not included here, as well as a full guide on how to install these mods and Fabric.

OneClient

If you are too lazy to install all these mods yourself and want a cohesive client experience like Lunar Client, we recommend using OneClient.

It is a "client" that feels like a traditional client, having a one-click install, a lot of pre-packaged mods, and a cohesive experience, but it also is fully open-source, uses Fabric instead of working around it, and is made by mod developers who are actually in the Minecraft modding community.

Rather than one monolithic client that ruins compatibility with other mods, OneClient installs the best performance and QoL mods from this list and splits itself up into smaller mods that can even be installed separately via Modrinth.

Note that OneClient contains in-game purchases such as cosmetics that can be completely disabled if desired.
